2019

Thirty years ago Mark & I purchased Metropolitan from Poole in Dorset and brought it to Poole in Cheshire where it has continued to thrive.
Sadly this year Mark and I have both had health problems which will prevent us continuing to run Metropolitan. We have had to make the serious decision to put Metropolitan up for sale which means that this is the FINAL Calendar of Events being organised by Carol and Mark.
We are delighted to have a specialist group of Tutors taking the Courses for 2019 and Tony Bennett is going to conclude the Courses on a particularly high note for us in September.
Had you planned to take part on one of our Courses take this last opportunity before the major changes take place.

You may be knitting your first garment or wanting to explore pattern knitting or sizing. We try to meet your needs. Sometimes it is just a matter of having some uninterrupted time to knit! This may be your first garment but you will have the confidence to complete it when you get home.

TONY BENNETT
Early booking is definitely advised for Tony’s Courses.

Tony Bennett – SLIP INTO KNIT STYLE
Mon Sept 2nd to Fri Sept 6th 10.00am to 4.00pm
Fee: £425.00 inc. VAT Ref: TB650
Over the course of the week we will examine a stitch which I believe is actually very much underutilised in our craft – SLIP – so for this creative week we will “Slip into Knit Style” by exploring some of the potential this stitch technique has to offer – looking at tension – colour – steam – drape – yarns – and a number of other options perhaps slightly outside the norm. The ultimate goal of the week is that you will each create a garment incorporating one [or more] of the slip stitch techniques – we will work together during the week to design and ultimately produce your own individual“ Slip into Knit Style” piece. In addition I will design/create a number of new garments specifically for this week ideally to give you a starting point for your own creativity. Be creative T

Tony Bennett – BLURRING THE LINES
Mon Sept 9th to Fri Sept 13th 10.00am to 4.00pm
Fee: £425.00 inc. VAT Ref: TB651
I often feel that as machine knitters we tend to avoid “stripes” as they are generally perceived as being either unflattering, predictable or even boring so over the course of this hands-on week I thought we could explore some of the huge potential they actually have to offer by “Blurring the Lines” manipulating and pushing some creative boundaries. We will explore some different and hopefully more unusual techniques – Stitch – Colour – Texture – Detail etc. enabling you to create some rather individual new and potentially uniquely you machine knit fabrics.

The ultimate goal of the week is that you will select a garment shape/idea from a collection I will design specifically for this BTL week and you will then incorporate your new “blurred” fabric in some form into your own individual design piece/variation. During the week we will work together so that you can create a garment that is uniquely you featuring your very own “Blurring the Lines” machine knit fabric taking your piece to a whole new concept on an individual, visual and creative level.
Be Blurr Creative Tony B
